Atsushi Nishijima, a Japanese photographer based in New York, is renowned for his still photography in films like Money Monster (2016), Poor Things (2023), and The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017). His most significant collaboration is with Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, spanning nearly a decade since their first project, The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017). Nishijima has worked on Lanthimos’ films, including The Favourite (2018), Poor Things (2023), and Kinds of Kindness (2024), capturing behind-the-scenes moments with a candid, intimate style. Nishijima’s approach, influenced by his Japanese heritage, emphasizes quiet observation and authenticity. Beyond Lanthimos, he has collaborated with directors like Alejandro González Iñárritu and clients like Nike and Apple, while his street photography is showcased in his book Loiter.
